Dear All,
Welcome to my Newsletter for November - quite a lot of "news" in this one!
The last month or so has been great fun, with lots of different things happening, and has also seen me treking all over the place - to places as diverse and Port Talbot and Mumbai ... variety is the spice of life after all! There's more traveling to come over the coming weeks and months, as well as some engagements at home too.
The big news this month is that I will be spending most of 2010 out of the country, working for P&O aboard their newest liner - the Azura. See below for all the details of that job, which kicks off in January - but there's still lots going on before then...
The first of the upcoming bits of news is happening tonight - the Kuroda Gala Concert will be taking place in London this evening (4th November). Although it maybe too late to catch that one, I have a number of shows with the WestEnders coming up, and of course 'White Christmas' is only a couple of weeks away.
As ever, you can find all the info on my website, so take a look or keep track of all the goings-on via my newly created Facebook page, follow me on Twitter or read my Blog.
All the best
Stephen
Kuroda - new musical concert performance 'Kuroda' is a new musical set in the early part of the 17th Century, on Japan's southern island of Kyushu. It is the beginning of the Edo period, a time of peace and stability following many centuries of factional war. The musical was created by Sachiko, Alison Lynn, Ian Stuart Lynn, and we will be performing a Gala concert on the 4th November in London. You can visit www.kuroda.co.uk for more details.
Audio Description - RSC's "A Tender Thing" @ Northern Stage I will be Audio Describing this new show for the RSC at Northern Stage in Newcastle, this Saturday 7th November at 2.00pm. The production notes say: "Another Romeo and another Juliet in a strikingly different love story... Ben Power has woven the text of Romeo and Juliet into a provocative new tale of a love that fears no challenge. Romeo and Juliet are played by Kathryn Hunter and Forbes Masson." You can book tickets for the remaining performances by clicking here
"Oakwood" recording I was recently asked by a composer friend - Nathan Taylor - to take part in the recording of his composition 'Oakwood' which is part of the Urban Scrawl project. This online audio drama project has brought together 53 writers and umpteen actors, and chronicles a journey through London, along the route of the Piccadilly Line - both below and above ground. One drama for each station stop. If you visit the TheatreVoice.co.uk website, you will be able to subscribe to the Podcast and keep your eye out for when 'Oakwood' is released - and of course listen to any of the other "Stations" in the project.
The WestEnders in the Netherlands I will be performing in two shows with the WestEnders over in the Netherlands this month, along with a corporate engagement at home and our New Year's Eve appearance over in Spain. There will also be a chance to catch my last performance with the WestEnders for a while, in West End goes Ballroom in Epsom on the 20th February 2010. Check the WestEnders website for all the details.
Charity Concert I've been asked to sing in a charity concert near Bishops Stortford on the 13th December. More details as they become available on the News page.
